One of the most desirable and at the same time most rurally idyllic districts of Salzburg is Aigen at the foot of Salzburg's Gaisberg. The distinctive district with village character is located in the south of Salzburg. Aigen is optimally connected to the public transport network. The Aigner Strasse, along with the Alpenstrasse, forms the most important connection to the Tennengau region to the south. For pedestrians and cyclists, the Ignaz-Rieder-Kai leads along the Salzach River in its extension to Elsbethen in one direction and to Salzburg's city center in the other - and with the second oldest train station in the state capital, the Salzburg S-Bahn is served every half hour.

Aigen is by and large a villa district with large parks and offers wonderful walks and excursions into nature. An ideal residential area for families and nature lovers right at the gates of the center of Salzburg city. In addition, Aigen offers shopping facilities for daily needs and excellent schools and kindergartens are also located there.

Michael Denkstein - from Aigner Park to the Gaisberg:

In Aigner Park you can find it, the quiet idyll that Michael Denkstein is sure stressed city dwellers long for. "At the foot of the Gaisberg, surrounded by meadows and forests, next to Aigen Castle and the Salzburg Aigen Parish Church, Aigner Park is the perfect place to dream, unwind, relax, recuperate and also play sports. The atmosphere is grandiose, the mood here is unique. In addition, the fairytale-like Aigner Park is a listed building and a protected part of the landscape. The park with its paths, vantage points, grottos and waterfalls is an important monument to the garden art of the early 19th century - and the declared recreation area of the people of Salzburg and also me," enthuses Michael Denkstein. Michael Denkstein sees another, very sporty, reason for his great love of "his" Aigen above all in the ideal proximity to "his local mountain" - the Gaisberg. For him, Aigen is the ideal starting point for hiking and biking trips to this nearby city mountain - with its beautiful and unique view of the city of Salzburg. The most beautiful are "after-work bike tours" at sunset.

And where do people meet in Aigen, if not in the Aigner Park or in the Schloss Aigen restaurant? "At the Aigner local supplier, the Spar market," Michael Denkstein reveals. "There, people not only do some quick shopping, but also chat - about the next bike tour up the Gaisberg or about the last tennis match at the STC court. And important meetings are arranged, such as the next tennis match including a 'match beer' at CULT in the Volksgarten."
